Custom Hoodies for Logging and Trades Crews in Northern Alberta

Logging and trades crews are some of the hardest-working teams in northern Alberta. From cut blocks south of Grande Prairie to job sites around Peace River, Manning, High Level and Fort Vermilion, your people are out early, working late and moving between sites all season. What they wear is part of how your company shows up: on the road, at the landing, in the shop and in town.

This post is for logging company owners, contractors and foremen who want to outfit a crew with branded hoodies. If you want the bigger picture on branded apparel for businesses in general, start with our post on custom branded hoodies and workwear for northern Alberta businesses.

Why logging and trades companies brand their crews

On a busy site there can be several companies working at once: your crew, subcontractors, haulers, other trades. Branded hoodies make it easier to see at a glance who works for you. That helps in a few ways:

  • Clear identification on site. Foremen, clients and other contractors can quickly tell which workers belong to which company.
  • Your name on the road. Crews stop for fuel, coffee and supplies in towns all over the region. A logo on their hoodie puts your company in front of people who might hire you or apply to work for you.
  • Recruiting. Skilled workers are hard to find up here. A crew that looks organized and proud of where they work sends a message to people looking for their next job.
  • Crew identity. Matching gear helps a mix of long-time hands and new hires feel like one team.

One note: branded hoodies are not personal protective equipment. Keep using whatever high-visibility and safety gear your site and employer rules require. A branded hoodie is the layer underneath or the one worn around camp, the shop and town.

Choosing hoodies for logging and trades work

Not every crew needs the same thing, and not every person on a crew does the same job. Red Sea currently offers three hoodie styles you can mix across a crew:

  • Heavy Weight Hoodie – our heaviest option for crews who spend long days outside, such as fallers, equipment operators and outdoor trades. It's a 420 gsm 80/20 cotton/polyester fleece with a relaxed fit and a jersey-lined hood with no drawstring, in 7 colours including Safety Orange and Safety Yellow. It runs small, so have your crew order one size up.
  • Signature Hoodie – a more premium option that works well for supervisors, office staff or as a thank-you for long-time crew members. It's a super soft 246 gsm cotton/polyester/rayon triblend fleece with a modern fit, in 5 colours.
  • Essential Hoodie – an everyday option when you need to outfit a large crew or keep extras on hand. It's a 13 oz (264 gsm) 50/50 cotton/polyester fleece with a double-lined drawstring hood, in 35 colours including Safety Green and Safety Orange.

Every hoodie can be decorated two ways, both done in-house in La Crete: custom embroidery on the left chest for a stitched, premium look, or heat press with a full-colour DTF print on the full chest or left chest. Full-colour heat press handles detailed logos, gradients and photos well. Embroidery suits a clean company logo on the chest; heat press is the way to go for bigger, full-colour designs.

How to outfit a whole crew without the headaches

Ordering for a crew spread across camps and job sites takes a little organizing. A few tips:

  1. Start with a headcount. Include seasonal workers and subcontractors you want branded, plus a few extras for new hires partway through the season.
  2. Gather sizes before you order. A simple list or group text with each person's size saves a lot of back and forth.
  3. Decide who gets what. Some companies put the whole crew in one style; others give supervisors or long-time employees a different hoodie.
  4. Plan around your season. Logging and construction have busy stretches. Reach out well before freeze-up, spring break-up or your next big project so the order isn't a last-minute scramble.
  5. Think beyond the crew. Extra hoodies make good gifts for clients, landowners and partners you work with every year.

Frequently asked questions

Do you make custom hoodies for logging companies? Yes. Red Sea makes custom branded hoodies for logging companies and trades contractors across northern Alberta, from Grande Prairie north to High Level and Fort Vermilion.

Can I order different hoodie styles for the same crew? Yes. You can choose from the Essential, Signature and Heavy Weight hoodies. Tell us which styles you want and how many of each in your quote request.

Should I choose embroidery or heat press? Both work well on crew hoodies. Custom embroidery gives a stitched, premium look on the left chest. Heat press applies a full-colour DTF print on the full chest or left chest, which suits detailed or colourful logos.

Are branded hoodies a replacement for hi-vis or safety gear? No. Branded hoodies are not PPE. Follow your site's safety requirements and use branded apparel alongside the gear your job requires.

Can I order for a crew that works across several sites? Yes. Gather your headcount and sizes first, then send them in one quote request and we'll work out the details with you.

How do I get pricing for my crew? Send us a quote request with your crew size, the hoodie styles you want and your deadline, and we'll reply with options and pricing.
